Brandon “Taz” Niederauer is increasingly a well-known name in the music world. The young guitar prodigy has earned fans far and wide since he was in the single-digit years, gaining an enviable sit-in history with names such as Col. Bruce Hampton, Gregg Allman, Butch Trucks, and more. As the longest-running cast member for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock: The Musical, for over two years, Taz treated audiences to his energized and advanced guitar stylings as the character “Zach.” Though Taz’s tenure with the musical came to a close this weekend, as the young guitarist looks to the future to pursue his own musical career (and freshman year of high school), he will always be remembered for the special moments he helped create during his time with the production.Kraz And Taz: A Look At Eric Krasno and Brandon Niederauer’s Greatest CollaborationsOne special moment last year was during a rehearsal for the Broadway production when none other than guitar icon Slash surprised the pre-teen cast. The young cast had already begun playing “Sweet Child O’ Mine” when the Guns N’ Roses guitarist arrived, hopping onstage with his signature sunburst Les Paul to play along. Taz looks noticeably excited to be playing along with the legend and can be seen watching Slash’s hands to see how he fingers the familiar solos. Slash then stuck around to run through “Paradise City” and met the excited cast. As Slash told Rolling Stone, “It was really cool to meet such an enthusiastic and talented bunch of young rock ‘n’ rollers. They were great kids as well as players.”Watch how it all went down below. You can also catch Taz Niederauer when he performs with the legendary Eric Krasno and his band this Friday, August 4th, at New York City’s The Cutting Room for a special Phish Baker’s Dozen late night. Photo credit: baptisthealth.netMIAMI, USA — Baptist Health South Florida International Services, a division of Baptist Health South Florida, partnered with St Kitts and Nevis prime minister, Dr Denzil Douglas, and Marcella Liburd, minister of health, to host a seminar on women’s health and related topics for healthcare practitioners and residents of St Kitts and Nevis.Titled “Current Prevention and Treatment of Cervical Cancer,” the event took place on Sunday June 26. Baptist Health South Florida International Services officially announced the donation of 3,000 Pap test kits to the Ministry of Health during the seminar. At the request of Douglas, the Ministry of Health and Brian Keeley, president and chief executive officer of Baptist Health and Honorary Consul General of St Kitts and Nevis in Florida, designed this seminar to educate women of all ages on the importance of cervical cancer screenings and the treatment options available to them.“Baptist Health is delighted to partner with Prime Minister Douglas and the Ministry of Health to provide educational programs on important health topics,” said Keeley. “Awareness and prevention are key to good health, and we’re pleased to have the opportunity to bring our physician experts to share information with the St Kitts and Nevis community.”The seminar, presented by Baptist Health South Florida gynecologic oncologist Dr Troy Gatcliffe, covered such topics as the importance of Pap tests for the prevention of cervical cancer and the appropriate management of early-stage, noninvasive and micro-invasive cervical cancer. Gatcliffe also discussed the addition of human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA testing for the triage of mildly abnormal Pap tests that could potentially lead to a reduction in costly doctor visits and overtreatment.“As cervical cancer is one of the few cancers that can be avoided with awareness and screenings, and easily curable if caught in the early stages, it is important to spread the message. We’re honored to have a strong ongoing relationship with Baptist Health South Florida International Services that allows us to bring these important messages and seminars to the public,” said Douglas. “The information and treatment options presented were of great value to the attendees, who were all eager to learn. We are also so grateful for the generous donation of Pap test kits and look forward to working together to present more pertinent health lectures to the people of St Kitts and Nevis.”The donation of 3,000 Pap test kits will be used to initiate a cervical cancer awareness campaign on the islands, encouraging women to get regular screenings.Caribbean News Now Tweet Share 25 Views no discussions HealthLifestyle South Florida hospital brings women’s health seminar to St Kitts-Nevis by: – June 29, 2011 Sharing is caring!
