Bethesda releases Doom 3 BFG Lost Mission trailer

first_imgThere are a number of reasons why picking up the soon to be released Doom 3 BFG Edition is worthwhile, even if you have played the original through to completion (several times over). As well as bringing together Doom, Doom 2, Doom 3, and Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil into a single collection, the engine for Doom 3 has been tweaked by John Carmack to bring it bang up to date as well as having 3D support added. As for gameplay tweaks, you’ll be able to use a gun and flashlight at the same time, which was a major complaint about the original. There’s also more ammo drops and checkpoint saves have been added. But the biggest draw for fans of the game is likely going to be the new content on offer. id Software has created The Lost Mission pack and Bethesda released the trailer you see above during QuakeCon yesterday to give us a hint of what to expect. The mission pack puts you in Bravo Team, and helps round out the story about what took place before you got there in the original single-player campaign. The Lost Mission is certainly going to add a few hours of extra gameplay to the title, and when combined with a graphically enhanced version of the original game and budget price point (from what I’ve seen), this is going to be a day one purchase for Doom fans, including myself.Doom 3 BFG Edition will be available to purchase on October 19 across PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Most retailers already have it up for pre-order, though.last_img
