Big Mural in West Houston Recognizes Harveys First Responders

first_img Share – / 5The Westchase District unveiled Thursday its ‘Harvey Heroes’ mural on the flood control channel that runs along Brays Bayou, in west Houston.Local artist Larry Crawford started working on the mural back in May. It recognizes the work of first responders who saved people from floodwaters during Hurricane Harvey last year.The mural depicts the Bayou City’s skyline and first responders from the Houston Police and Fire departments, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard and the Cajun Navy.With an approximate size of 100 foot wide and 20 foot tall, the mural is the largest in that part of Houston, where there are already other murals.Crawford used a technique that combines spray and hand painting.last_img
