first_imgCooch Behar: A 15-day long programme to create awareness about the various state government schemes among the workers of the unorganized sector was inaugurated by the state minister for North Bengal Rabindranath Ghosh.Kaushik Saha, District Magistrate, along with the senior officials of the labour department were present at the function, which was organized by the state Labour department at Rabindra Bhavan.The special drive will be conducted in every Gram Panchayat, blocks and municipalities. Camps will be held to enroll the workers of the unorganized sector. Also Read – Rain batters Kolkata, cripples normal lifeThe programme to include all the workers of the unorganized sector under the scheme was initiated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.Cheques were handed over to the beneficiaries by the minister and the District Magistrate.Around 2.80 lakh workers associated with the unorganized sector in the district have been brought under the Social Security Scheme of the state government in the district.Of these, around 80,000 workers belonging to the sector have got Rs 36 core.last_img
