Beilke added that as far as he knows, Fuentes had not even applied for the position of city manager. “If he did, he would be considered,” he said. “My question is, what do they have against him, other than (having) an agenda of their own.” Rose Rosales said that, since she served as Beilke’s campaign manager during his successful run for the City Council last March, she and Beilke have clashed over how the city should be managed. “The idea then was we were working together to better the community and get a city manager who could work with all five of our council members,” she said. “Instead, we have a temporary consultant being considered (for city manager) who is not qualified for the job.” Rosales, 52, a sheet metal journeyman, who has lived in Pico Rivera for 15 years, declined to comment for this article, saying he was reserving his comments until tonight’s meeting. PICO RIVERA — Pico Rivera City Councilman Ron Beilke said Monday he will request at tonight’s council meeting to have city Planning Commissioner Rudy Rosalesremoved from his post, a move that is generating charges of political retribution from Beilke’s critics. “This is retaliation for me being opposed to the city ending up with someone who is a consultant and Ron’s friend and campaign adviser as our city manager,” said Rose Rosales, the wife of Rudy Rosales and a member of Pico Rivera Community for Truth in Politics, also known as C-TIP. The newly formed organization opposes any move by the council to elevate temporary consultant Chuck Fuentes to the post of city manager. The city has been without a city manager since May, when council members fired former manager Dennis Courtemarche. Rose Rosales and other C-TIP members say Beilke wants her husband removed to punish the couple for her involvement in C-TIP.
