Gerrard, 33 later this month, has had his best season fitness-wise and his appearance in 220th Merseyside derby was his 36th consecutive Premier League start – equalling his previous longest run set between April 2006 and April 2007. He has played with the shoulder injury for several months but after an early collision with Everton midfielder Leon Osman on Sunday he looked in obvious discomfort. However, it did not prevent him completing 90 minutes – Gerrard has missed only 17 minutes of the league season after being forced off against Newcastle just over a week ago after feeling some pain in the shoulder – and putting in another impressive performance. But with little to play for in their remaining two matches at Fulham and QPR Liverpool have decided it makes more sense for Gerrard to have an operation now to give him an additional couple of weeks’ rehabilitation. “Liverpool have confirmed Steven Gerrard will undergo surgery on a recurrent shoulder problem this week,” said a statement from Liverpool. “The captain’s injury has progressively worsened in recent weeks and requires an operation to cure it. “Gerrard will now miss the final two games of 2012-13, but he is expected to be fit for the start of pre-season training this summer.” Press Association The England skipper will also miss the national team’s two friendlies against the Republic of Ireland at Wembley on May 29 and Brazil on June 2. Gerrard will go under the knife later this week and is expected to return in time for Liverpool’s pre-season programme. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is to have an operation on his left shoulder which will rule him out of the rest of the season.
This property at 25 Waterloo Esplanade is on the market in Wynnum through Marc Sorrentino of Place Manly. Picture: supplied. The bayside real estate market had a slow start to 2019 but finished the year with a bang and local experts are predicting the favourable conditions will continue through 2020. According the Core Logic data, Gumdale was the best performing suburb in the Wynnum Herald catchment in 2019 with the median house price increasing 28.6 per cent to $1.019 million. The Wakerley median home price was up 4.4 per cent to $787,000 while Manly’s median house price increased 3.6 per cent to $790,000.The three suburbs were also the top performers for the decade with Gumdale, Wakerley and Manly seeing average annual increases of 5.3 per cent, 3.6 per cent and 3.3 per cent respectively. Marc Sorrentino of Place Manly said the bayside market was sluggish at the beginning of the year but “finished with a bang”. “I feel domestic politics with an election and a likely labour win contributed to (the slow start) along with international politics and trade wars,” he said. “Towards the end of the year buyers realised interest rates are at an all-time low and the market is moving up with most predicting a 20 per cent lift in Brisbane.“It’s for these reasons I think … come early January we will see this growth in sales continue and 2020 will be one of the better years in real estate for the bayside.” Marc Sorrentino of Place Manly. Picture: supplied.Mr Sorrentino specialises in high end waterside property. He said Manly was his standout suburb of 2019, taking out the region’s top waterside sales of last year. Mr Sorrentino was responsible for Manly’s most expensive sales of 2019 with 8 Wellington St selling for $1.95 million in November, 67 Oceana Tce selling for $1.88 million in June and 7 Britannia St selling for $1.775 million in January. “Interestingly this year we had many buyers coming from the Bulimba, Hawthorne and Morningside areas,” he said. “Factors such as a second flight path and increased noise along with development making that area even busier seem to be the driving forces for the move to the bayside suburbs.”Mr Sorrentino said there were still bargains to be had at the high end of the bayside market. “If buyers want big water views then it’s on The Esplanade where they’ll get the better bargains,” he said. “Land is about 25 per cent cheaper and you can still pick up a doer-upper for around $1 million, which is so cheap compared to any other waterfront (property) around Australia.” Gail Gobey of Sash and Gable Property said listings were down in the lower to mid-range market but buyer interest was still strong. Gail Gobey of Sash and Gable Property says there was plenty of buyer activity in the bayside market. This will see prices maintained or increasing over the next two quarters and we expect a greater increase in property prices in this mid to low price range in the second half of 2020.”When it comes to the acreage market, Deborah Evans of Remax Results said savvy buyers were getting in before the next price jump.“We’re due for some great increases in value and that’s a big motivation for buyers to purchase, the buying market can sense prices will increase for that capital growth,” she said. Deborah Evans of Remax Results says interest in acreage property remains strong. Picture: supplied.Ms Evans said the spring selling season in 2019 was slow to start but predicted strong results in 2020. “I’m very excited about the new year. Everyone has recovered from the banking issues and with interest rates being so low, we’ve got committed buyers that are really looking for a quality location,” she said. Ms Evan said buyers looking at acreage areas such as Belmont, Chandler and Gumdale were chasing privacy, high end homes and easy access to the Brisbane CBD and the bay. “We’re seeing (high inquiry) right across the board and certainly in the higher end (of the market),” she said. “We’ve been selling properties the first couple of weeks on the market with multiple offers.”
